A funeral service for John G. Carlin, 51 of Newark will be held Thursday October 19, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Father Carl Subler officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.Mr. Carlin died Sunday October 15, 2006 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born November 26, 1954 in Newark, Ohio to Dr. Edward A. and Marolyn J. (Posey) Carlin of Santa Fe, New Mexico.In addition to his parents he is survived by his loving wife Rebecca (Smythe) Carlin whom he married August 6, 1983; daughter and son-in-law, Trisha (Kenneth) Schwartz of Glenford; son and special friend, Mark Carlin and Jennifer Wingate of Newark; sisters, Karen (Keith) Kowalski of Phoenix, AZ., Diane (Tim) Joganich of Chalfont, PA., Suzy Carlin of Santa Fe, Cindy (Gerald) Martinez of Santa Fe; brother, David (Lori) Carlin of Newark; two grandchildren, Kody and Brooklynn Schwartz; many cousins, nieces and nephews.Mr. Carlin operated Executive Business Services since 1983.John was a 1972 graduate of Newark Catholic High School. He was a member and officer of Newark Moose Lodge # 499. In 1991 his passion and vision for soccer in Licking County enabled him to be a founder of the Newark Area Soccer Association. He has served the organization as President, Bingo Manager and Coach.He enjoyed hunting with his son and son-in-law. Perhaps his greatest legacy will be to his family, in the traditions he began that will be forever treasured.Calling hours will be observed Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.
