John R. Butler, 76 of Crooksville died Sunday November 17, 2024 at Genesis Healthcare following an auto accident.  He was born August 17, 1948 in Zanesville to John Roy and Nancy (Wheeler) Butler.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Etta K. (Hammer) Butler; four sons, Gary (Laraine) Butler of Zanesville, Doug (Allison) Butler of Dresden, Todd Butler of New Lexington, Jeremy (Stephanie) Butler of Roseville; eleven grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was devoted to his family, friends and community as was evident in every action and every word. He enjoyed performing with the Rusty Knights, was an avid fan of the Buckeyes, enjoyed the outdoors and playing cards with friends and family.  He will be deeply missed but remembered as a man of kindness, humor and a great inquisitive mind.  His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.

A celebration of John's life is scheduled for January 4th from 12 p.m. to 3 pm at Prophets Park, 2560 Old River Road, Zanesville, OH 43701.
