Obituary

Pastor Joe Offenberger, 75, of Frazeysburg, died Saturday evening, February 11, 2023, at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, Zanesville, Ohio.

Born July 10, 1947 in Marietta, Ohio, he was a son of the late Francis and Louise Catherine (Huck) Offenberger and a 1967 graduate of Waterford High School.  Joe earned a bachelor's degree at Marietta Bible College and went on to further his studies at Anderson Bible College earning his master's degree.  He also earned an honorary Doctorates degree from Marietta Bible College.  He ministered in Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio and in Eastern Europe mainly in Romania and Moldova.  Joe participated in missionary work in the Philippines and finally retiring from the First Baptist Church of Dresden.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Anna (Rauch) Offenberger, whom he married on  September 13, 1969; two sons, Kevin (Becky) Offenberger of Parkersburg, W.V. and Joseph (Kama) John II of Pennington, S.C.; two daughters, Melissa (Henry) Franklin III and Rachel (Brandon Trickle) Offenberger; twelve grandchildren, Chase Offenberger, Tiffany Tucker, Jeffrey Tucker, Michael Daniels, Lyndsey Daniels, Matthew Daniels, Jasmine Franklin, Henry Franklin IV, Johnathan Offenberger, Kaydin Offenberger, Kara Offenberger, Maggie Offenberger and a granddaughter on the way; three sisters, Camilla Heiss, Anna Jean Huck and Harriet Henrie; a sister-in-law, Kay Offenberger, several nieces, nephews and his fur companion Charlie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Pawlaczyk and Mary Louise Pitt; a brother, Cecil Offenberger; five brothers-in-law, Bill Huck, George Heiss, James Henrie, Flory Pawlaczyk and Hurd Pitt.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.

Friends and family may visit from 3:00-7:00pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil and Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, February 16, 2023 at First Baptist Church- Dresden, 801 Chestnut Street with Pastor Gary Crawford officiating.

Joe will be laid to rest at Frazeysburg Cemetery, Frazeysburg, Ohio.
