A funeral service for Joe Baumgartner, Jr., 79 of Newark will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2008 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. L. Dudley Field officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date. Joe passed away Tuesday morning at his home. He was born June 15 1929 in Newark to the late Joseph Baumgartner, Sr., and Esther L. (Inlow) Baumgartner of Newark. Joe retired from Diebold Corporation. He was a Presbyterian by faith. Joe loved his family, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He enjoyed entertaining, making others laugh, and cooking. He also enjoyed gambling on occasion. In addition to his mother, Joe is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley (Bricker) Baumgartner, whom he married October 21, 1956; sons, Joe Baumgartner, III , Charles (Cristina) Baumgartner; grandchildren, April Baumgartner, Keith and Jared Baumgartner; step granddaughter, KarriAnn Jurden; step great-granddaughter, Kyra Jurden; all of Newark; brothers, James Baumgartner of Blue Rock, Gerald ?Skip? (Neva) Baumgartner of Newark; sisters, Rosemary Ratliff of Newark, Linda (Kenneth) Rhodes of Mount Dora, Fla., Janet (Monte) Nagy of Newark; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Baumgartner and Donald Baumgartner. Friends may visit from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W.
