Funeral services for Joann "Jo" Claypool, 91 of Heath will be held Friday November 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Joyce Wealand officiating. Burial will follow in Hanover Cemetery.

Mrs. Claypool passed away on November 6, 2023 at the Arlington Care Center. She was born in Perryton September 6, 1932 to Floyd and Nellie (Crawmer) Williamson.

Joann was a graduate of Toboso-Hanover High School. She retired in 1994 as a book keeper having been employed by Dr. Raker, Dr. Karaffe and Dr. Scarpitti Medical Practices. She has been a resident of Heath since 1959. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She was involved in the Ladies Guild, M & M Sunday School, served as the church book keeper and active with the monthly Euchre Club. She enjoyed traveling having visited Germany, Alaska, Hawaii and spent winters as snowbirds in Florida. She loved golfing and had great pleasure in tutoring Ron's game during their retirement. She was a huge Ohio State University sports fan especially the football program.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Larry) Jones of Newark, Scott (Joan Mumaw) Claypool of Toboso, David (Shirley) Claypool of Heath, Chris (Beth) Claypool of Perrysburg; grandchildren, Emily Claypool, Amy Claypool, Evan Claypool Jones, Lindsey (Daniel) Drenning, Nikki Neill, Joshua Neill, Jacob Claypool, Jaraka Joann Claypool; great-grandchildren, Soma Jones, Jackson Grayson, Roman Smith, Scarlett Smith, Freya Smith, Noah Neill, Macey Neil,l Rory June Drenning, Oliver Drenning; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ronald "Ron" Claypool; sisters, Christine Stokes and Judy Barclay.

Visitation will be observed Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home, 1850 West Main Street.
