Joan C. Post, age 94, of Newark, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday afternoon, July 25, 2025, at Otterbein Granville.

Born June 20, 1931, in Newark, Joan was the daughter of the late Willis Delbert and Elsie (Hull) Gatrell. A proud graduate of Newark High School, Joan went on to work for both Owens-Corning Fiberglas and the Welsh Hills Floral Company.

Joan was a devoted and active member of Christian Apostolic Church, where she taught Sunday School and mentored youth amid a lifetime of other acts of service. She had a deep love for gardening, flowers, birds, crossword puzzles, and cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes. A gifted cook and dedicated homemaker, Joan's heart was always centered on her family. An intensely devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, she will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She often said that family was life's most important endeavor, and she sought to embody that belief every day.

She is survived by her husband of more than 73 years, Robert T. Post; her children, Chris (Elaine) Post, Vicky (Tim) Ghiloni, and Lucinda Post; grandchildren, Bryan, Jaclyn, David, Bethany (Jesse), Jessica (Carter), and Kate; and great-grandchildren, Siobhán, Teagan, Emma, Olivia, Caspian, and Aramis. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by an infant son, Ricky Post, and two brothers.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Christian Apostolic Church, 22 N. 23rd Street, Newark, with Rev. G. Keith Sjöstrand officiating. Friends and family may call at the church from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Private burial will be at Wilson Cemetery.
