A funeral service celebrating the life of Jo Ann Bond, 73 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2014 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Seth Oiler officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.


Jo Ann died Wednesday morning, August 20, 2014 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center. She was born November 21, 1940 in Newark to the late John and Margaret (McLaughlin) Day. A graduate of Newark High School, Jo Ann retired from B & L Motor Freight. She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary, where she served on the National Executive Committee, as Director of Buckeye Girls State, and as a volunteer for Girls Nation. Jo Ann attended First United Methodist Church.


Survived by her three sons, Jeff (Janet) Wachter, Mark (Carol) Wachter, and David Wachter all of Newark; grandchildren, Jarrod (Molly) Wachter of New Albany, Jillian Wachter of Atlanta, GA, Dustin (Kristen) Wachter of Scottsdale, AZ, Cameron Wachter, Salt Lake City, UT; two great grandchildren, Liam and Kennedy Wachter; brothers, Tony (Debbie) Parkinson of Newark and Bill (Sue) McLaughlin of Newark; special friends, Debbie Jacobs and Kathy Keeney.


In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Bond; her special companion, John Jacobs; a brother Clinton McLaughlin; and a sister, Vicky Epler.


The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Garth Bennington; the girls at Northtowne Senior Living and Hospice of Central Ohio.
