Obituary

Jerry E. Wilson, 73, formerly of Zanesville, Ohio left his earthly body Sunday afternoon, April 24, 2016. He spent his final months surrounded by family and friends at Kindred Health Care in Newark, Ohio.
Jerry entered the world in Zanesville on December 19, 1942, a son of the late Harold E. and Velma V. (Adams) Wilson and was a 1960 graduate of Zanesville High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion and the First Christian Church of Zanesville. Jerry worked in professional sales with ADS and Apple Computers.
Jerry is survived by a brother, Tim Wilson of Dresden; several other sisters in-law and brothers in-law and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and his beloved dog, "Chip". Also surviving is his life-long friend, Ronnie Peterson and a host of other dear friends.
Jerry met his loving wife to be, Peggy Holland, in Columbus, Ohio. They became close friends and dated for many years. On August 28, 1982, they were married and lived their married life in Powell, Ohio. Sadly, on November 23, 2000, Peggy died. In addition to Peggy and his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Lee Wilson and Harold "Billy" Wilson; his father in-law and mother in-law, Urban and Julia Holland; sisters in-law, Jan and Kathy; brother in-law, Denny, and Jerry and Peggy's beloved dog, "Gwen".
Jerry will always be remembered as a loving, caring, kind and generous person. During one Christmas season Jerry purchased thirty new winter coats and distributed them to various charities for area children.
Our Heavenly Father works in mysterious ways. On Thursday evening, Jerry was in a good state. Jokingly we asked if he had a "hot date" planned for the weekend. He replied, "I have a date with the Lord". A while later that same night he was counting on his fingers and repeating, "424" and "442". At the time we didn't understand, but the numbers were his appointment time with the Lord. Jerry died on 4/24 at 4:42pm.
As per Jerry's wishes, he will be cremated, and upon the passing of his dog, "Chip", the remains of Jerry, "Chip" and "Gwen" will be buried with his wife in Ashland, Ohio and his parents in Duncan Falls, Ohio.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services. We ask that you give a moment of silence and say a little prayer. Jerry is Home and will be smiling down on us.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 3000 Dresden Road, Zanesville, Ohio 43701 or to the Animal Shelter Society, 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
