Obituary

Jerry L. Sipe, 81, of Hanover Ohio died Monday morning, August 23, 2021 at his home.

Born November 11, 1939 in Newark, Ohio he was the son of the late Benton G. and Fern O. (Dauterman) Sipe and was a 1957 graduate of Newark High School.  Jerry proudly served our country as a member of the Ohio National Guard.  He spent many years as a forklift driver for various companies in the manufacturing industry.  He was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.  Jerry was an avid reader, woodworker and a long-time fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds.  His true passion was music, playing in several groups, most recently with CMFO playing saxophone.

Surviving is his loving wife, Marilyn R. (Eibest) Sipe, whom he married December 26, 1965; two sons, Lee B. (Jackie) Sipe of Dresden, Ohio and Danny D. (Sis) Sipe of West Carlisle, Ohio; one daughter, Jan (Kenny) Hannah of Utica, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Kenan, Nicholas, Grace and Josiah Sipe, Alexis, Emma and Brayden Hannah. Also surviving is one sister, Linda Grunden.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bob Grunden.

Calling hours will be 2pm to 4pm Friday, August 27, 2021 at Smith Chapel Church, 4895 Reform Road NE, Newark, Ohio.

Funeral services will be 4:00pm Friday, August 27, 2021 at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Beth Marshall officiating.
