A funeral service celebrating the life of Jerry R. Davies, 81 of Newark will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Wally McLoughlin officiating.  Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Jerry passed away Saturday morning, August 27, 2022 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born January 7, 1941 in Newark, OH to the late Gaile and Doris (Galbraith) Davies.

Jerry owned and operated Hoyt Plumbing working with his wife and sons.  He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed classic cars and actively attended area car shows.  More than anything, Jerry was a family man and nothing was more important than his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Dixie R. (Hoyt) Davies; three children, Jerame (Bernadette) Davies of Newark, Jerid Davies of Granville and Tasha (John) Lorentz of Dover, OH; grandchildren, Dr. Al (Dr. Grant Lewis) Davies, Abby Davies, Sydney Lorentz, Sawyer Lorentz, Simon Lorentz, Ella Davies and Emma Davies; a sister, Joann (Richard) Payne of Mt. Vernon; a sister-in-law, Sheri (Terry) Dornhecker of Bolivar, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Jim (Barb) Davies.

Friends and family may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
