Obituary

Jean Ramsey, 95, of Hanover, Ohio died Thursday evening, March 23, 2017 at Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio in Newark, Ohio after a short illness.

Born September 1, 1921 in Fallsbury Township of Licking County, she was a daughter of the late Denzil and Verna (Frey) Little and was a 1939 graduate of West Carlisle High School. During World War II Jean worked at the Newark Stove Company and after the war she was an operator with Newark Telephone Company in the Hanover office. Mrs. Ramsey was a member of Hanover Presbyterian Church and Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. She enjoyed baking and was a "master cookie baker". She also enjoyed sewing, gardening and, most especially, being with her family.

Surviving are three sons, Glenn Ramsey and his wife Rosalind Ramsey-Goldman of Winnetka, IL, Keith Ramsey of Newark and Richard Ramsey of Hanover; four grandchildren, Ethan (Lauren Pauer) Ramsey of Washington, DC; Caitlin Ramsey of Foothill Ranch, CA; Sarah Ramsey (Chris) McKee of Zanesville; and Jesse Eli Ramsey of Warsaw; two great grandchildren, Eli Ramsey and Alexander McKee. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews Ruthellen (Ron) Anderson of Dawsonville, GA, Bethann (Phil) Altman of Springfield, VA, Bill (Timmie) Gault of Frazeysburg, Steve Little of Newark, John Little of Marion, OH, Jerry (Pat) Little of Frazeysburg, Kenny (Sue) Ramsey of Friendsville, TN, Susan (Scott) Taylor of North Port, FL and David (Lori Kay) Ramsey of Howard, OH.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years Roy E. Ramsey whom she married June 12, 1943 and who died February 21, 2000; one sister Mary Gault; three brothers Edgar Little, Bob Little and infant Orville Little and a nephew, Tom Little.

Calling hours will be from NOON to 2pm Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.

Funeral services will be a 2:00pm Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the funeral home with the Rev. Sarah Juist officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Bladensburg, Ohio.
