A Mass of Christian Burial for Janet M. Hite, 79 of Newark will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday November 20, 2024 in The Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark Granville Road, Granville, OH with the celebrant, Rev. Father Timothy M. Hayes officiating.  Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be observed Tuesday evening from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home 1850 W. Main Street.

Janet passed away unexpectedly while visiting family in Michigan on Thursday November 14, 2024. She was born May 16, 1945 in Columbus, OH to John T. and Catherine (Ague) Dimond.

She retired in 2005 from the Heath Target store. Janet was active during her lifetime in her catholic faith, in recent years she has attended St. Edward the Confessor. She was an avid fan of OSU and Notre Dame football. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed feeding the birds. Her foremost interest was her family. Activities included fishing with her grandchildren, attending their sporting events and time spent at family gatherings.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Glen A. Hite; children, Joan (Nick) Welch of Luther, MI, Christopher (Amanda) Hite of Newark; eight grandchildren, Kylie Swetnam, Matthew Hite, Nathan Hite, Levi Welch, Jason Hite, Ashlynn Welch, Joey Hite, Jaxson Hite; great-grandson, Ruben Wood; brothers, Louie Hyman of Ray, OH, John (Mary) Dimond of Columbus.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Smith; uncle, Rev. Father Arthur Dimond.
