Janet Marie Kazimer Gierke, 89, of Adamsville, died Sunday, December 11, 2022 at her home.

Born June 11, 1933 in Ravenna, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Twark) Kazimer and a 1951 graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School.  Janet was a lifelong farmer and took in any stray cat in the neighborhood.  She raised and showed various breeds of horses with her husband since 1954.  Together, they were well known as showing top futurity foals in many states.

Surviving is her husband of 69 years, Clifford C. Gierke, whom she married April 25, 1953; a son, Collin (Beth) Gierke of Springfield; a daughter, Carla "Candy" Gierke of Adamsville; a grandson, Josh Gierke of Springfield; a sister, Patti (Arthur) Keller of Flordia; a brother in law, Dick Gierke of Kent, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Kazimer; and two sisters, Mary Lou and Caroline Kazimer.

No services will be held at this time, a memorial service will be held at the family farm at a later date.

The Dresden Chapel of Vensil and Chute Funeral Home is assisting the family.
