Obituary

James R. Moran, 74, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Tuesday morning, July 15, 2014 at The Oaks at Bethesda in Zanesville after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Born November 7, 1939 in Newark, Ohio he was a son of the late Benjamin F. Moran and Alverta M. (Cannon) Moran and he was a 1957 graduate of Bladensburg High School. Mr. Moran was a retired self-employed oil, gas and water well drilling contractor and was owner of James R. Moran Drilling, Inc. and was a member of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association. He was also a member to the Frazeysburg Presbyterian Church where he served as a trustee and he attended the Hidden River Travel Resort Church of Riverview, Florida. He enjoyed dirt track racing, horse pulling, playing cards and "corn hole" with his friends and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years Kathy (Miller) Moran whom he married October 23, 1965; a son, Kevin Moran of Heath, Ohio; three daughters, Karyn Clark of Frazeysburg, Kristy (Mike) Driskel of Newark, Ohio and Kimberly (Joe) Kinder of Frazeysburg; seven grandchildren, Connor and Cameron Moran, Kyle (Katy Evans) Clark, Haley Clement, Rhett and Landry Driskel and Jacob Kinder; three great grandchildren, Brianna and Kaylee Clark and Christian Evans; three brothers, Ronald F. Moran and Danny Moran, both of Newark and Steve Moran of Frazeysburg; a sister, Jean (Larry) Harris of Newark and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a sister in-law, Phyllis Moran of Frazeysburg, a special friend, Ann Gilbert of Newark and his special dog, "Kara".
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister in-law, Eva Moran.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8pm Sunday, July 20, 2014 and 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Frazeysburg Presbyterian, 10905 West Carlisle Road, Frazeysburg. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Frazeysburg Presbyterian Church or The Oaks of Bethesda Activity Fund.
