NEWARK: A funeral service for James R. Henry, 78 of Heath will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the Church of God at Godâ??s Acres with Pastor Roger L. Decker officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Henry died Saturday morning, October 23, 2010 at Grant Medical Center, Columbus. He was born January 22, 1932 in Index, Kentucky to the late William and Hazel (Easterling) Henry.

A graduate of West Liberty High School; Jim went on to technical college and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an active, devoted member of the Church of God, Godâ??s Acres; serving as a trustee, in the bus ministry, Sunday school, and in the choir. He lived his faith; putting others before himself and eagerly and lovingly serving God. Jim was also a loving husband and father.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Helen (Dumm) Henry; whom he married February 14, 1965; a son Damon James (Laurie) Henry of Circleville; a daughter, Letitia Cooper of California; grandchildren, Mallory, Heath, and McKenzie; six sisters, Norma Jean (Paul) Williams of Chandelor, Ind., Christine (George) Blackburn of Fairborn, Dearl Dykes of Sabina, Laquada Elam, Phylis Lewis both of West Liberty, Ken., and Madeline Fisher of Cincinnati; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Talmage Henry.

Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the church, 675 N. Cedar Street, Newark.
