James C. Fleming, 87, of Marne, Ohio died Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2022 at The Oaks at Northpointe in Zanesville, Ohio.

Born January 11, 1935 in Frazeysburg, Ohio, he was a son of the late Thomas C. Fleming, Sr. and Rhoda Margaret (Lecky) Fleming.  James was a 1953 graduate of Frazeysburg High School and he proudly served our country as a member of the United States Marines during the Korean War.  He retired in 1997 from Rockwell International where he was a pipefitter in the maintenance department.  James was a member of Marne United Methodist Church; New Home Lodge #338, F. & A. M. and Hanover American Legion.  He loved golfing and he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Surviving are three granddaughters, Holly (Dan) Martin, Erika (Scott) McMaster and Lora (Barry) Priest; four great grandchildren, Michael, Emma, Mason and Will and three step great grandchildren, Brayden, Alyssa and Madison.  Also surviving is one brother, Donald (Patt) Fleming of Zanesville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Beverly F. (McKee) Fleming whom he married October 11, 1954 and who died August 11, 2019; a daughter, Deborah Deeds who died December 8, 2005; a son in-law, John Deeds who died July 25, 2011; three sisters, Rhoda Reed, Clara Morin and Norma Fleming and seven brothers, Charles, William, Carl, Thomas, Jr., Asa, Walter and Dwight Fleming.

Calling hours will be 5pm to 7pm Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.  New Home Lodge will conduct Masonic services at 7pm.

Funeral services will be 10:00am Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the funeral home with Rev. Gus Christo-Baker officiating.  James will be laid to rest beside his wife, Beverly, in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
