Dr. Jack R. Wine, 87, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Saturday afternoon, November 5, 2016 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio.

Born December 28, 1928 in Zanesville he was the son of the late Harold C. and Grace (Sly) Wine and was a 1946 graduate of Frazeysburg High School. Following high school he attended The Ohio State University where he graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine in 1953. Dr. Wine proudly served our country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1955. Following his discharge for the Air Force he began his career as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and had served the area for over 60 years. Currently he operated Wine Animal Clinic in Zanesville.

Dr. Wine was a member of the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church and was a member of the Zanesville Rotary for over 50 years. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Veterinarians Honorary Fraternity at OSU and was on the constitution committee for the College of Veterinary Medicine at Ohio State University. Jack was an avid outdoorsman and loved working on his farm, hunting and boating.

Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Joan (Garrett) Wine whom he married June 26, 1954; a son and daughter in-law, Jonathan and Amy Wine of Houston, Texas and three grandchildren, Alison, Austin and Mattie Wine.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church, 87 West Second Street, with Pastor Robert Mesnard officiating. Burial will be in Irville Cemetery in Nashport.
