Obituary

Ivan N. Van Allen, 77 of Zanesville died Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Adams Lane Care Center. He was born August 17, 1936 in Frazeysburg to the late James C. and Ethel M. (Cline) Van Allen.

He retired in 1992 from Rockwell Manufacturing in Heath with 35 years of service. He was stationed in Germany while serving in the U. S. Army. He was a member of UAW Local # 1037. He was a former member of the Frazeysburg Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed farming throughout his lifetime and was a member of the Muskingum County Farm Bureau. He contributed to many veterans and health care causes, including DAV and Alzheimer's.

He was devoted to his family including his wife of 56 years, Carroll (Norman) whom he married July 2, 1957; Son, Michael J. Van Allen of Zanesville; daughter, Ivanna S. Michael of Coshocton; brother, Dale L. (Inez) Van Allen of Brunswick, FL; grandson, Robert Michael of Coshocton; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, MaryAnn Van Allen and Wadina Lewis.

Calling hours will be observed from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Mesnard officiating. Burial will follow in Frazeysburg Cemetery with military honors by the Wakatomika Post # 6193, VFW.
