Funeral services for Doris Irene Boyd, 89 of Newark will be held Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Cheryl Evans officiating. Burial will be in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be observed from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the services.

Mrs. Boyd passed away on August 5, 2023 at Newark Altercare North.  She was born October 25, 1933 in Reform to Noble and Pearl (Gearheart) McArtor.

Irene was a 1951 graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School. She was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning. Her family was very important.

She is survived by her children, daughter, Cristina (Jeff) Martin; son, John Boyd Jr.; grandchildren, Jamie Lane, Jeffrey Boyd, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Hayley Lane, Brance Boyd, Avan Boyd; sister, Esther Hite; brother, Dale (Linda) McArtor; daughters-in-law, Cherie Boyd, Linda Boyd-Wood; sisters-in-law, Minerva McArtor, Betty Rauck; several nieces, nephews; great nieces & great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Boyd in 1989; sons, Jerry Boyd, Jeffrey Boyd, Sr.; siblings, Wayne McArtor, Paul McArtor, Dorothy Smith, Evelyn Kidd-Whitt, Carol Sue McArtor.
