Obituary

FRAZEYSBURG ? Hubert W. ?Lucky? Johnson, 70, of Nashport, Ohio died at 7:50pm Saturday, July 23, 2005 in Genesis Morrison House Hospice, Zanesville, Ohio. Born September 8, 1934 in Crumm, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Dewey and Goldie (Sammons) Johnson and was Navy veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Johnson retired in 1996 as a truck driver with Matlack Trucking of Columbus, Ohio and was a member of the Teamsters Union of Columbus. He attended Nashport United Methodist Church and was a member and Past Master of Irville Lodge #184, F. & A. M. He was also a member of Muskingum Chapter #485, O. E. S., the Ancient and Accepted Order of Scottish Rite, Valley of Cambridge and the V. F. W. of Zanesville. Lucky enjoyed boxing and was a former Golden Glove boxer. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. Surviving is his wife, Edith M. (Morris) Johnson whom he married October 21, 1967; three sons, Larry (Sherry) McClary and John (Theresa Dawson) McClary, both of Johnstown, Ohio and Roc (Heather) Johnson of Nashport; three daughters, Laura (Warren) Bailey of Galena, Ohio, Robin (Mike) Richards of Benson, Arizona and Toni (Robert) Johnson-Barch of Pataskala, Ohio; two brothers, Roy (Karen) Sammons of Smith Mountain, Virginia and Sonny Steele of Corinth, Kentucky; four sisters, Geneva Shands and Faye (Charles) Testerman , both of Baisden, West Virginia, Verna (Curtis) McKean of Galloway, Ohio and Carol (Macky) May of Smith Mountain, Virginia; three sisters in-law, Opal Sammons of West Virginia, Donna Morris of Zanesville and Linda Morris of Baltimore, Ohio; one brother in-law Kenneth (Marianne) Morris of Dublin, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Leonard and Benny Sammons; two sisters, Lucille Steele and Elizabeth Thompson; his father in-law and mother in-law, Marion and Mildred Betts; and two brothers in-law, Edward and Chester Morris. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street, Frazeysburg, Ohio. Masonic services will be conducted at 6:30pm Wednesday at the funeral home by Irville Lodge #184, F. & A. M. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Thursday, July 28, 2005 at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Irville Cemetery.
