Obituary

A funeral service for Howard J. Stickle, 72 of Newark will be held Friday February 27, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mr. Stickle died Monday February 23, 2004 at Arlington Nursing Home. He retired in 1996 from the Newark Siding & Building Supply, which he had operated for 20 years. He had owned and operated the H.J. Stickle Construction Company for 40 years. He was born February 25, 1931 in Marne, Ohio to the late Henry Howard Stickle and Ruth (Osburn) Stickle-Leffue.Mr. Stickle served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Newark Mannachor, former member of the Church of the Master, He was an avid supporter of the Newark High School Booster Club, and he enjoyed spending time with his family, which included softball, baseball and Babe Ruth activities.Mr. Stickle is survived by his wife of 46 years, June L. (Ashcraft) Stickle, whom he married July 6, 1957; three children, Jeanne Crumrine of Newark, John (Melissa) Stickle of Heath, Jenny (Todd) Bebout of Heath; seven grandchildren, Kendra, Kristin, Katelyn, Kyle Crumrine, Samantha Stickle, Jacob and Brookelyn Bebout; brother, Gary Stickle of Buckeye Lake; sister, Chris Weinbrenner; mother-in-law, Cathern Ashcraft of Newark; sister-in-law, Liz Stickle of Newark, best friend, Richard Thompson of Hanover; several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents one brother Walter Stickle is deceased.Calling hours will be observed Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, 1850 West Main Street, Newark. Memorial contribution may be made to the Hospice of Central Ohio, 1984-A Coffman Road Newark, Ohio 43055. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
