Obituary

Howard Slaughter, Jr., 88, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Tuesday evening, August 1, 2017 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio.

Born March 25, 1929 in Adams Mills, Ohio he was a son of the late Charles and Geneva (Steiner) Slaughter. Howard proudly served our country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1987 from Owens-Corning Fiberglas where he worked in the control lab. He loved golfing and he worked for 20 years at Raccoon Valley Golf Course. Howard was a member of the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church; Wakatomika Post 6193, VFW of Frazeysburg; American Legion Post 29 of Zanesville and Eagles Lodge 302 of Zanesville.

Surviving are two sons, Michael (Donna) Slaughter of Newark and Kevin (Teresa) Slaughter of Nashport; four daughters, Beverly Kay (Chuck) Elekes of Frazeysburg, Judy (Jim) King, Connie (Larry) Moore and Kathy (Dan) Sensibaugh, all of Nashport, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Pauline Pepper of Conesville, Ohio, Jeanette Guilliams of Salt Lake City, Utah and Martha (Jerry) Veigel of Coshocton, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mildred I. (Thomas) Slaughter whom he married February 4, 1969 and who died February 11, 2004 and two brothers, Jack Slaughter and Gene Slaughter.

Calling hours will be 5pm to 8pm Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street. Calling hour will also be for one hour prior to the funeral service.

Funeral services will be 11:30am Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Mesnard officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
