Obituary

Herman C. Simpson, 84, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Wednesday morning, May 20, 2015 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville.
Born April 1, 1931 near Frazeysburg, he was a son of the late William and Hazel Simpson. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Wakatomika Post #6193, VFW. Mr. Simpson retired in 2003 from American National Can of Newark where he was a boiler operator. Following his retirement he began working at Hanby Farms of Nashport, working in the fields and later transporting parts. He enjoyed listening to music and he had a great love for animals, especially cattle. For many years he managed the Andana Farms of Nashport and tended their herd of Scottish Highland cattle.
Surviving is his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Patricia J. (Thomas) Simpson whom he married September 6, 1952; a son and daughter in-law, David and Cynthia Simpson of Frazeysburg; two grandchildren, Amanda (Eric) Bonifield of Pataskala, Ohio and Slade (Sarah Crock) Simpson of Dublin, Ohio; a sister, Mary Alice Delancey of Frazeysburg and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a very special friend, Don Lyons of Newark.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Simpson Erlenbach; five brothers and four sisters.
The family would like to give a very special thanks to nurses, doctors and staff of 5 Main at Good Samaritan Hospital for all the loving care and support given to Herman. Also a special thanks to all the staff and employees of Hanby Farms.
Calling hours will be from 5pm to 8pm Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be at 8:00pm Friday, May 22, 2015 at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Belt officiating, followed by military honors conducted by Wakatomika Post #6193, VFW. In keeping with Herman's wishes, cremation will follow the service.
