FRAZEYSBURG ? Herman R. Howard, 90, of Cedar Hill Apartments, formerly of Frazeysburg, Ohio, died at 8:45pm Monday, October 13, 2003 at his home. Born February 21, 1913 in Chandlersville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Eura J. (Caerins) Howard. Mr. Howard retired in 1978 from Tri-Valley Schools where he had been a janitor at Nashport Elementary and a school bus driver for 27 years. Prior to his employment at the schools, he had been a farmer for many years. He was a member of Nashport United Methodist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class. He was also a fifty year member of Nashport Grange and served as the Grange Treasurer for many years and was currently a member of Richvale Grange. Mr. Howard was an avid coon hunter and was a former member of the Muskingum County Coon Hunters Association. He enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the Frazeysburg Monday Afternoon Card Club. Surviving is his wife of seventy years, Mildred L. (Horrall) Howard, whom he married August 30, 1933; two sons, Gerald R. ?Red? (Marilyn) Howard of Frazeysburg, and Harvey L. (Janice) Howard of Troy, Ohio; five grandchildren, Tim Howard of Huber Heights, Ohio, Pam (Mike) Davis of Zanesville, Stephanie (Mark) Miller and Gregory Howard, both of Canton, Ohio, and Christopher Howard of Columbus, Ohio; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sons, Ronald and Donald Howard; one brother, Harry Howard; two sisters, Gladys Robison and Lucy Tom; a grandchild, Corey Howard, and one great grandchild. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Thursday, October 16, 2003 at Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home in Frazeysburg. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, October 17, 2003 at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
