Obituary

Helen Marie Ross, 77 of Dresden died Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Emeritus at North Hills.

She was born June 23, 1936 in Muskingum County to the late Harold C. and Blanche M. (McHenry) King.

She retired after 26 years as a cook for the Tri-Valley School system in the Adamsville schools. She currently is a member of the Dresden United Methodist Church. She was former member, serving as organist, pianist and a member of the United Methodist Women at the Adamsville United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Adamsville Emergency Squad and 20 years plus certified EMT as a member of the Adamsville Fire Dept., a member of the Adamsville Homemakers. She was a 1956 graduate of Adamsville High School and a member of the cheerleader squad. She served as an advisor for the Busy Workers 4-H club for 10 years. She was a member of the Bonnie Longaberger Senior Center. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cross-stitching and reading. She was a Tri-Valley sports fan and enjoyed supporting her grandchildren during their soccer games.

Survivors include her children, Martha H. Van Reeth of Zanesville, Karen M. (Larry) Hepner of Bridgeton, NJ, Dale A. (Karen) Ross of Dresden; sister, Marjorie White of Zanesville; sister-in-law, Rosalie King; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry (Linda) Ross; seven grandchildren, Kelby (Erica) Van Reeth, Levi (Alexis Miller) Van Reeth, Amanda Hepner, Emily (Phil) Heckman, Joel (Erika) Ross, Evan (Heather Banks) Ross, Harrison (Emily Badgett) Ross; five great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ethan, Haylie, Sophie and Josie; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Loren W. Ross, whom she married November 26, 1953 and died July 2, 1998; and a brother, Lester King.

Calling hours will be observed Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dresden Chapel of VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 714 Main Street.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Dresden United Methodist Church, 1014 Main Street, Dresden. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Adamsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Adamsville Fire Department, Dresden United Methodist Church, Kidney Foundation or Genesis Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
