Helen Lepi, 83, formerly of Dresden, Ohio died peacefully on Monday November 6, 2006 in Newark, Ohio. She was born on April 20, 1923 in Walhonding, Guernsey County, Ohio, the daughter of Andrew and Katherine (Adamica) Alexa. She moved to Detroit, MI in the early years of WWII, where she worked full time while making a home for her brother, sister and elderly father. After the war, Helen met Steve Lepi and the two were married at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Detroit, MI on June 3, 1950. A loving wife and mother to her husband and five children, she was an active member of the Legion of Mary and a choir member at St. Stephen?s Byzantine Catholic Church in Allen Park, MI. She enjoyed reading, gardening and casual conversation with young people introduced to her by her children. In 1977 she relocated to a farm in the Dresden area with her husband and youngest daughter, Anne. After the death of her beloved husband, Steve, in 1990, she moved to 7th Street in Dresden, where she enjoyed attending Bible Study Classes and was a member of the Senior Fitness Center. When Alzheimer?s disease left her unable to care for herself, her family engaged the services of a nursing home in Newark, Ohio. She is survived by two sons, Steven Lepi of Seattle, WA and Thomas Lepi of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. James (Mary) Sheen of Berkley, MI and Mrs. James (Anne) Wheeler of Dresden; a sister, Miss Mary Alexa; five grandchildren Andreanna, Aaron, Brandon, Ryan and Rebecca and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers and her eldest son, Andrew Paul, preceded her in death. Friends may call 6-8PM Friday November 10, 2006 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home.
