Hazel Bernice Flowers, 91, of Frazeysburg, Ohio was called home to be with her Lord Tuesday evening, July 23, 2012 in the emergency room of Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark, Ohio.
Born August 30, 1920 in Armour, Nebraska she was a daughter of the late Charles and Nora (Kuhn) Johnson and was a homemaker. Mrs. Flowers studied with the Shepherd Chapel and was a member of the Christian Brotherhood. She enjoyed doing crafts and doing sewing and alterations for friends and neighbors. She especially enjoyed cooking large meals for her family.
Surviving are three sons, Roy G. Flowers of Frazeysburg, with whom she made her home, Steven (Ruth) Flowers of Warsaw, Ohio and Richard (Carolyn) Flowers of Fresno, Ohio; one daughter, Sue (Karl) Kent of Warsaw; one sister, Ethel Patterson of Zanesville, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles H. Flowers whom she married October 18, 1937 and who died March 5, 1991; a daughter, Barbara Moran; a son Charles Flowers, a granddaughter, Rachel Saleh, two sisters, Ruby Wells and Faye Phipps and three brothers, Homer, Charlie and Carl Johnson.
Calling hours will be from 11am to 1pm Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the funeral home with Mr. Bill Jones and Mrs. Flowers' grandson, Tyde Flowers, officiating. Burial will be in Fallsburg Cemetery.
