A funeral service celebrating the life of Harvilla L. Wells, 102 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Cheryl Simpson officiating.  Graveside services will follow at 2p.m. at Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette, OH.

Mrs. Wells died Saturday morning, May 27, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born March 26, 1921 in West Lafayette, OH to the late William C. and Mary E. (Adams) Houston.  A Christian by faith, Mrs. Wells attended Newark Nazarene.

Survivors include her children, Richard Wells, Robert (Theresa) Wells, Harvey Wells, Mark Wells, Ruth (Glenn) Steffee, Mabeth Penrod and Rebecca Wells; a daughter in-law, Kay Wells; 22 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Wells, who she married June 15, 1940 and died September 1, 1987; sons, William Wells, David Wells, Charles Wells;  brothers, Hubert Houston, Ernest Houston-Adams; a sister, Genola Carpenter; and two grandchildren.

Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the service, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.

Memorial contributions may be made to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
