Obituary

FRAZEYSBURG â?? Harold Wesley â??Macâ? McDaniel, 83, of Nashport, Ohio went to be with his Lord on Monday morning, February 8, 2010 at Cedar Hill Care Center in Zanesville.

Born December 13, 1926 in Hopedale, Ohio in northeastern Harrison County, he was the son of the late Samuel and Ida (McKnight) McDaniel, the youngest of ten children. â??Macâ? worked as a laborer at Mosaic Tile Company in Zanesville for many years until the factory closed. He then worked at Burnham Foundry as a machinist until his retirement in 1991. For over 50 years he has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Zanesville and served as a church deacon and as a trained lay speaker. He is also a member and Past Master of Irville Lodge #184, F. & A. M. and a lifetime member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge. He in enjoyed woodworking, gardening, cooking and reading.

In the late 1940â??s, he met Margaret Pyle and they were married December 6, 1947. Mac and Margaret were involved in many activities together over the years. During the 1960â??s they were foster parents for 38 newborn babies and toddlers, whom they cared for until the children were placed into adoption. They were youth leaders at the First Baptist Church; they loved to dance and belonged to the Zane Squares Dancing Club; they loved to hike the outdoors and travel and they were active members and officers in the Order of Eastern Star. During Margaretâ??s lengthy illness Mac cared for her at their Nashport home. After 58 years of marriage, Margaret passed away on June 17, 2005.

Surviving is one daughter, Jacquelin McCarroll of Chandlersville, Ohio; two sons and daughters in-law, Samuel and Janice McDaniel of St. Peters, Missouri and Douglas and Cathy McDaniel of Nashport; two grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) Schulte and Thomas McDaniel; three great grandchildren, Joshua, Maddox and Emmelia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Arvilla Newman, Ellen Fouty, Eletta Ervin and Elizabeth McDaniel; five brothers, William, Thomas, James, Raymond and Francis McDaniel; and a son in-law, Joel McCarroll.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street, with Irville Lodge conducting Masonic services at 8:00pm.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, February 12, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastors Joe Seese and Reginald Martin officiating. Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
