Obituary

Harold Grant Garber, 81, of Nashport, Ohio died Friday morning, September 23, 2011 in the emergency room of Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio.
Born January 28, 1930 in Canton, Ohio he was the son of the late Harold Hayes and Mary Margaret (Smith) Garber. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Garber graduated in 1958 from Muskingum College with a BA in education and he later received his Masters Degree from Xavier University. He was a retired school teacher with 31 years of services, with 22 years at Tri-Valley High School where he taught English and History. As a member of the Muskingum Presbyterian Church he served on Session, sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. He was a Lay Pastor for several years serving various Presbyterian churches in the area. Mr. Garber was also a member of Frazeysburg Lodge, #490, F. & A. M.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Annalee (English) Garber whom he married August 29, 1950; a daughter, Cherilyn Capistran of Zanesville; two sons, Harold Malcolm (Susan) Garber of Newark, Ohio and John Garber of Nashport; three grandsons, Christopher, Connor and Trevor Garber and a great grandson, Christopher Garber.
There will be no calling hours.
Private family funeral services will be held 11:00 Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home. Burial will be in Muskingum Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
