Glen William Moran, 97, of Newark, Ohio died Thursday May 21, 2026, at the Selma Markowitz Inpatient Care Center located at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark.
Born July 29, 1928, in Fallsburg, Ohio, he was a son of the late Loyd & Agnes I. (Clark) Moran and a 1946 graduate of Union High School. Glen proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a Christian by faith. He worked in the oil fields as a young adult and later retired in 1988 as a periscopic sextant repairman for Newark Air Force Base after 25 years of service. Glen was a member of Hanover Legion Post 764 for over 50 years. He was known as a hard worker and could always be found tinkering in his garage. Glen was extremely intuitive and had a knack for making things work with the spare parts he had laying around. Glen enjoyed fishing, gardening and enjoying time with friends and family. The material things in life didn’t impress him, he cherished relationships with the ones he loved.
Glen is survived by his daughter, Gwendolyn Trout of Newark; two granddaughters, Danielle (Daniel) Sparks of Newark and Jennifer Byrd of Heath; four great grandchildren, Riley Conrad, Brayden Conrad, Logan Byrd, and Lillian Byrd; a brother, Cecil Moran; three sisters, Naomi “Faye” Sandusky, Lila Jean Jones, and Mona (Jim) Warden and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Glen is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian V. Moran whom he married November 22, 1953, and who died March 17, 2000, and two brothers, Gordon Moran and Marion Moran.
