Glen O. Bowden, 91, of Zanesville, died at 9:40AM Thursday September 9, 2010 at Autumn Healthcare of Zanesville.
Mr. Bowden was born January 12, 1919 in Salem Township, a son of the late Carson and Sarah (Funk) Bowden. Mr. Bowden had farmed near Adamsville all his life and especially enjoyed producing exceptional potatoes. For many years, he and his wife Marjorie were regular vendors at the Farmerâ??s Market at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds where they had exhibited produce for nearly 60 years. He was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church. During the Adamsville Homecoming in July 2010, Mr. & Mrs. Bowden served as parade Grand Marshalls.
Surviving are his children, Bonnie Bowden of Zanesville, Beverly (Clarence) Mitchell of Zanesville, Richard Bowden of Norwich; six grandchildren, Tamara (Bill) Barnhart, Pamela Mitchell, Douglas Mitchell, Shane Bowden, Karen Solt, Melissa (Ryan) Smith; six great grandchildren, Tyler, Brittney, Madison, Kelsey, Reece and Jenna and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death wife, Marjorie B. (Kreis) Bowden on July 29, 2010 and whom he had married April 5, 1942; his brother Ralph Bowden; two sisters, Zella Kreis and Esther Czigins and a granddaughter Lynette Bowden.
Friends may call 5-8PM Sunday September 12, 2010 at the Adamsville Community Building, 8200 Madison Street, Adamsville. A funeral service will be held at 11AM Monday at the Community Center with Pastor Mary Molnar officiating, friends may also call one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
