Obituary
Gladys M. McKnight, 88, of Dresden, died at 2:33am Friday January 29, 2010 at Genesis Health & Rehab. Center surrounded by her family.
Mrs. McKnight was born January 30, 1922 in Coshocton County, a daughter of the late Albert C. and Mary Ellen (Newell) Countryman. She enjoyed cooking and over the years operated several restaurants in Coshocton and McKnightâ??s Restaurant at the corner of Sixth & Main in Dresden. Mrs. McKnight had also cooked at the original Popeyeâ??s Restaurant in Dresden and for ten years had worked at Essex Wire in Zanesville.
Surviving are her children, Richard C. (Carol) McKnight of Conesville, Ruth E. (Stanley) White of Tombstone, AZ, Linda D. Carnes of Dresden, Marsha K. Kennedy of Dresden; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard A. Countryman of West Lafayette, David J. (Hazel) Countryman of Coshocton; sisters, Daisy R. Cornelius of West Lafayette, Violet June Kiser of West Lafayette, Sandra K. (William) Pettit of Coshocton, Virginia M. (Happy) Powell of West Lafayette and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard R. McKnight on November 9, 1986.
Private funeral services will be held on Monday February 1, 2010 and burial will be in the Dresden Cemetery.
