Obituary

Gladys I. Harney, 92, of Dresden, Ohio died Sunday morning, October 9, 2016 at Cedar Hill Care Center in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born December 28, 1923 in Stoddard County, Missouri she was a daughter of the late Robert W. and Esther E. (Ross) Grimes. Mrs. Harney was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, fishing, camping and almost any activity that involved the outdoors.
Surviving are three sons, William (Patricia) Harney of Utica, Ohio, Donald (Katie) Harney and David (Marni) Harney, both of Dresden; three daughters, Jane Lewis of Zanesville, Lynn (Paul) Murphy of Frazeysburg, Ohio and Irene Ann Harney of Dresden; thirty grandchildren; many great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren. Also surviving are three half-brothers, Robert Grimes, Jr. of Florida, Fred Grimes and Carl Grimes, both of Zanesville; three half-sisters, Marie Penrod and Vera Mayfield, both of Arkansas and Ruth Martin of Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Lee Harney whom she married August 7, 1937 and who died June 26, 1980; two sons, Marvin Harney and Michael Harney; two daughters, Carol Angler and Deborah Larsen; four brothers, Edgar Grimes, Jasper Grimes, Thomas Grimes and Ernest Grimes; one sister, Dolly Harney; one half-brother, A. J. Grimes and one half-sister, Jean Sharrer.
Calling hours will be 6pm to 8pm Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the funeral home with the Rev. Joe Offenberger officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
