Gerald A. "Jerry" Birkhimer, 77, of Dresden, Ohio died Saturday morning, May 13, 2017 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville.
Born April 10, 1940 in Dresden he was a son of the late Clarence and Velva (Breeden) Birkhimer and he attended Dresden Jefferson High School. Mr. Birkhimer proudly served our country in the United States Navy for four years. He retired in 2005 from the Longaberger Company where he was a heavy equipment mechanic and he had previously worked for King Quarries and Scurlock Excavating. Jerry was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhart, both Senior and Junior. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Surviving is one daughter, Melissa Birkhimer of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; one granddaughter, Amanda Wilbur of Newark, Ohio; three sisters, Bonnie (Don) Hague, Trudy (Don) Ridenour and Julie (Scott) Ford, all of Dresden; a brother, Kenny (Elaine) Birkhimer of Dresden; a sister in-law, Jerilyn "Shed" Birkhimer of Dresden and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jackie Birkhimer and Charles "Butch" Birkhimer.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Mesnard officiating.
