Obituary

A funeral service for Gerald W. ?Bill? Miller, 84 of Newark will be held Thursday May 12, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of God, God?s Acres, 675 Cedar Street, Newark with Pastor Roger Decker and Minister Joshua Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens with full military rites by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Mr. Miller died Monday May 9, 2005 at Arlington Nursing Home. He was born Feb. 5, 1921 in Toboso to the late Ora Clinton and Elsie (Romine) Miller. Mr. Miller a member of Church of God ?God?s Acres? retired from Rockwell Manufacturing in 1982. He was a member of UAW Local # 1037. He was a former employee of the B & O Railroad. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed listening to sporting events on the radio and volunteering at the church printing office. He had formerly played guitar for church services. Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Survivors include his wife, Doris (Grimes) Green-Miller, whom he married November 26, 1960; children, Marvin W. (Cindy) Miller of Frazeysburg, Stephen R. (Beth) Miller of Dresden, Carol (Ralph) Hanby of Nashport, Roger (Diane) Green of Lockport, NY, Clarence (Beverly) Green of Newark, Marjorie (Dale) Holtz of Nashport; sister, Letha (Walter) Brookover of Toboso; brother, Ronald (Betty) Miller of Perryton; 27 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenna Frances (Burrier) Miller in 1959; a son Neil E. Miller; sister, Maxine Miller; brothers, Russell Miller and Dale V. ?Scrump? Miller. Calling hours will be observed Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street, Newark. The family suggest contributions may be made to Church of God, ?God?s Acres? 675 N. Cedar Street, Newark, Ohio or Hospice of Central Ohio 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, Ohio 43055. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
