Obituary

George R. "Dick" Vickers, 78, of Dresden, Ohio died Tuesday afternoon, February 4, 2014 at his home after a lengthy illness and surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 20, 1935 in Coshocton County he was a son of the late Donald and Evelyn (Pritchard) Vickers. Mr. Vickers was a Navy veteran and he retired in 1991 from Rockwell International in Heath, Ohio. He had previously been employed at McGraw-Edison in Zanesville for 13 years. Dick was a member of the Trinway United Methodist Church and a retired member of the Dresden Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood crafting and being with his family.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Janet (Rine) Vickers whom he married July 1, 1959; a daughter, Valerie (Tim) Brink of Dresden; a son, Richard (Kathy) Vickers of Walhonding, Ohio; five grandchildren, Shawn Brink of Dresden, Meggan (Allan) Simms of Newscomerstown, Ohio and Tyler, Trenton and Triton Vickers of Walhonding; three great grandchildren, Brayden and Aubrey Simms and Kaitlyn Brink; three brothers, Donald Vickers of Coshocton, Ohio, Charles (Shirley) Vickers and Roger (Sharon) Vickers, of Dresden; a brother in-law, Jack Black of Dresden and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Bowers and Judy Black.
Calling hours will be from 4pm to 6pm Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be at 6:00pm Friday, February 7, 2014 at the funeral home with the Rev. Sharon Williamson officiating. Following the funeral ceremony and caring and dignified cremation will be conducted.
