Obituary

Geneva F. Vernon McCarty, 82, of Nashport, formerly of Adamsville, died at 12:42AM Tuesday November 3, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital following a stroke suffered on Sunday. Born December 1, 1926 in Rich Hill Township, she was a daughter of the late Merl Dennis and Ellen Josephine (Pyle) Prouty. She was a 1944 graduate of Adamsville High School and a fifty year member of Fairview Community Christian Church in Adamsville. Surviving are her husband, Richard F. McCarty; children, Carl (Linda) Vernon, James (Linda) Vernon both of Adamsville, Rebecca (Larry) Williams of New Concord, Garry (Kelly) Vernon of Adamsville; step-children, Frances (Robert) Snider of Hopewell, Roy (Pam) McCarty of Dresden, Susan (Jerry) Allison of Norwich, Raymond McCarty of Nashport, Ginny (Chuck) Carter of Nashport, Ralph (Tonia) McCarty of Trinway, Robert (Beth) McCarty of St. Louisville, Maureen (Brian) Musto of Blacklick; a step daughter-in-law, Darla McCarty of Nashport; 14 grandchildren, 20 step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and four expectant great grandchildren; three brothers, Gail (Gusta) Prouty, Gerald (Carolyn) Prouty and Lester (Trudy) Prouty all of Norwich and two sisters, Glenna (Robert) Bash of Lancaster and Naomi Worthington of Jackson. In addition to her parents , she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bryce E. Vernon on April 1, 1992; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a step-son, Mike McCarty, two brothers, Dennis Harold Prouty, Donald Eugene Prouty and two sisters- in-law, Minnie Prouty and Helen Prouty. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8PM Thursday November 5, 2009 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1PM at the New Hope Lutheran Church in Adamsville with Pastor Bill Pittman and Pastor Mary Molnar officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
