IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary C.
Heck
October 21, 1953 – October 26, 2022
A funeral service celebrating the life of Gary C. Heck, 69 of Newark will be 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2022 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Steve Harley officiating.
Gary passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, October 26, 2022 at his home. He was born October 21, 1953 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Charles T. Heck and Kathryn "Katie" (Lusk) Heck.
Gary was a 1976 graduate of Cincinnati Bible College and entered the full-time ministry with the Church of Christ for over 20 years. He served, alongside his wife, in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Virginia and Ohio. Gary was a true servant of God in the way that he preached, counseled, mentored and taught the Bible. After leaving full-time ministry, Gary continued his path of serving others though counseling. His calming demeanor, compassion, and wisdom had a tremendous impact on many people.
Gary was an avid reader; you could always find him sitting outside, relaxing peacefully with a book in his hands. He had a passion for traveling across the U.S. and abroad. Gary was a true family man - from his bond with his siblings to his unconditional love of his daughters. For the last three years, Gary was able to embrace his newest and most favorite role: Grandpa. His infectious smile grew even larger with just the mention of his grandsons' names. He was incredibly proud of his family. Gary's legacy as a faithful servant of the Lord will continue to live on though all those he has impacted in his life.
Survivors include his daughters, Emily (Bryan Reilly) Heck of Essexville, MI and Lauren (David) Clark of Newark; grandchildren, Grant Charles Clark and Nolan William Clark; brothers, Steve (Shirley) Heck, Timothy (Margie) Heck; a sister, Kathy (John Pijanowski) Slyder; and his former wife, Diantha Wilson; he was also a loving and supportive uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the funeral service, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main St., Newark.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
