Galen Gene Rouanzoin, 90, of Newark, Ohio died Friday evening, August 16, 2024, at his home.

Born June 18, 1934, in Pennsville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Delmar G. Rouanzoin & Eva I. (Harrison) Mac Ferren and a 1952 graduate of Lash High School in Zanesville.  Galen proudly served in the U.S. Army and the Ohio National Guard for over 30 years.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, feeding the deer, squirrels and birds, mowing grass, and listening to blue grass music.  Galen loved to go on cruises with his daughter.  He loved his family, and he cherished spending time with them.

Surviving is his wife of almost 60 years, Ruth Ann (Porter) Rouanzoin whom he married December 24, 1964; a daughter, Lisa (David) Wickham of Conesville, Ohio; a son, Galen (Nicole) Rouanzoin of Marne, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kaitlin Wickham, Austin Wickham, Will Downs, and Jace Rouanzoin and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Lowell W. Rouanzoin and a sister, Donna Irene Hoskinson.

A graveside funeral service will be Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in Hanover Cemetery with Chaplain Brian Humphreys officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio.
