Obituary

A funeral service for G. Irene Wilson, 85 of Newark will be held Wednesday April 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in The Old Country Church, 101 S. 5 th Street, Newark, OH. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.

Irene went to her heavenly home on Friday April, 1, 2022 at her residence. She was born May 9, 1936 in Utica, Ohio to Webster and Lenor (Anderson) Brown.

She was an evangelist, youth leader, music minister and served as pastor at The Old Country Church for 16 years. She was a very talented musician and vocalist. She established the "Kid's Café" outreach program that is still active at the church. She was a 1954 graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School. She had been employed in the floral department at Kroger's and retired from the fabric department at Wal-Mart.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Sebert L. Wilson; children, Timothy (Marcy) Wilson of Frazeysburg, Jeffrey (Robin) Wilson, Bradley (Alexis) Wilson, Andrew (Cathy) Wilson, Debora (Gary) Collins all of Newark; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Green of Greenville, SC; brother, Daniel (Nancy) Brown of Frazeysburg; sister-in-law, Sharon Brown of Golden, MS; brother-in-law, John Mick of St. Louisville; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert E. Green in 1957; siblings, Eugene (Ruth) Brown, Dwight "Bud" Brown, Mary Mick, Mildred Brown, Junior Mulock; granddaughter, Jessica Wilson.

Visitation will be observed on Tuesday, April 5 th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at The Old Country Church, 101 S. 5 th Street Newark, OH.

The family requests contributions in memory of Pastor Irene to The Old Country Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
