Fred Tahyi, 88, of Conesville, Ohio died Sunday morning, March 26, 2017 at his home.

Born December 16, 1928 in Zanesville, Ohio he was a son of the late Gus and Gerturde (Fitch) Tahyi. Mr. Tahyi owned and operated Wright Bottling in Coshocton for many years and he was an avid collector of soft drink bottles and paraphernalia.

Surviving are three children, Terry (Peggy) Tahyi of Conesville, Cheryl Gano of Coshocton and Tim (Jean) Tahyi of Utica, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Troy Tahyi, Stefanie May, Kurt Gano, Matt Gano, Shawn Tahyi, Jarrett Tahyi, Shanan Tahyi and Sheena Tahyi and several great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers in-law, Harold Newell and Gerald (Joan) Newell, both of Zanesville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Velma Rose (Newell) Tahyi whom he married December 13, 1946 and who died December 12, 2015; two brothers, Gus Tahyi and Mike Tahyi; a sister, Millie Fouch and a son in-law, Carl Gano.

There will be no calling hours and a private graveside memorial service will be conducted at Dresden Cemetery.
