Fred "Pap" Richard Wolford, Sr.

Fred “Pap” Richard Wolford, Sr., 88, died Friday morning, June 5, 2026, at Genesis Hospice Care, Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.

Born August 12, 1937, in Frazeysburg, he was a son of the late Fred and Dorthey (Sheppard) Wolford. Pap proudly served in the United States Army and worked many years for Hanby Farms and Walmart as a driver. His passion was family and race cars. Pap started the tradition of racing, earning him the title, “Leader of the Pack”. He loved racing and spending time with the boys in their garage. The only thing he loved more than racing was his family.

Surviving is his loving wife, Gladys (Hennessy) Wolford whom he married May 26, 1956; two sons, Fred (Diane) Wolford and Steven (Christine) Wolford; three daughters, Bonnie (Lenny) Harris, Wanda Wolford, and Beverly (Michael) Lamb; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; twenty-seven great-great grandchildren; one brother, Bill (Becky) Wolford and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Ross and a brother, Ronald Lewis Wolford.

Family and friends may visit from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil | Wagner | Marshall Funeral Homes, 110 West Third Street.
