Obituary

Funeral services for Fred J. Martin age 86 of Hebron will be held Saturday June 19, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor James H. Meacham officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Mr. Martin died Wednesday June 16, 2004 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born January 6, 1918 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Frederick O. and Sarah (Keisling) Martin. Mr. Martin was a farmer most of his life. He was also employed for several years for the B & O Railroad. He was a member of the Licking Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He is survived by his son, Fred ?Jack? (Margie) Martin, Jr. of Hebron; daughter, Sara (Tom) Eiden of Ottawa, Ill.; two sisters, Grace Martin of Oak Hill, Ohio, Elsie Mae Barnes of Hialeah, Fla.; grandchildren, Lisa (Tom) Woodruff of Heath, Jonathan (Tammy) Martin of Heath, Nathan (Staci) Martin of Hebron, Erin (Tom) Vandervelde of Ottawa, Ill., Tom Eiden, Jr. of Ft. Myers, Fla., Meghan Eiden of Chicago, Ill., Keri Eiden of Ottawa, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Ashley Woodruff, Alex Martin, Amy Vandervelde and Erik Vandervelde. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Evelyn (Reinhart) Martin, June 6, 2001, four brothers and two sisters. Calling hours will be observed Friday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.
