A funeral service for Franklin B. ?Smiley? Lewis, 76 of Newark will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday August 10, 2006 at the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Shope officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Mr. Lewis passed away Tuesday at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born February 14, 1930 in Newark to the late Lester D. and Norma (Shipley) Lewis. He had worked for Owens Corning as a paper cutter. Mr. Lewis was also active in the Masonic Lodge and Newark Eagles. He loved to bowl, and was active in several leagues. He also enjoyed camping. He is survived by his children, Marsha Cole of Newark, and Greg (Tina) Lewis of Newark; brothers, Roy Lewis, Ray Lewis, James Lewis, and John Lewis, all of Newark; a sister, Donna Lewis of Newark; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Max , Lester, and Paul Lewis; and two sisters, Josephine Sellars and Jean Kimble. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
