Franklin D. Coon, 67, of Dresden, Ohio died Tuesday morning, October 14, 2014 at Adams Lane Care Center in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born September 6, 1947 in Athens, Ohio he is the son of the late Lorenzo Coon and Anna L. (Wright) Coon of Dresden and he was a 1966 graduate of The Plains High School. Mr. Coon was an Army veteran who served during the Viet Nam War and was retired from Columbus and Southern Power Company. He was a member of both the Dresden American Legion and Dresden VFW and he attended the Sharon Avenue Free Methodist Church.
Surviving is addition to his mother is a son, David (Nicole Schockling) Coon of Frazeysburg; a daughter Nicole Coon of Dresden; four grandchildren, Brianna Coon, Riley Coon, Morgan Coon and Carli Collins; a sister, Connie (Dennis) Wilcox of Dresden; a very special friend, Tom (Sue) Randles of Zanesville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a son, Frankie Coon and a sister, Carolyn Carrothers.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8pm Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Friday, October 17, 2014 at the funeral home with the Rev. George Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
