Frances Irene King, 87, of Frazeysburg, died early Thursday morning, January 22, 2026 at Arlington Care Center in Newark, Ohio.
Born February 13, 1938 in Reinersville, Ohio, she was one of eight children of the late Forrest and Mary (Winestock) Groves. She was known for making excellent pies. People would come from miles around to enjoy her pies at the Frazeysburg Truck Stop. Frances loved to listen to bluegrass music, was an avid golfer and bowler, and started a Bingo Club in Frazeysburg that lasted for many years. She loved living in Florida and was able to live there for over 20 years. Frances always loved her “special” animals, caring for raccoons, skunks, lots of horses, and all of the other animals she fell in love with.
Surviving are her three children, Rocky (Bobbie Jo) King of Frazeysburg, John King of Dresden, and Randi Nadine (Joe) Thomas of Wichita Falls, TX; 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, with one on the way; one great-great grandchild and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. King who died in 1999; her beloved foster parents, Bertram and Beulah Bigley and a bonus son, Jeff Hood.
Keeping with Frances’ wishes, there will be no public services.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
