A celebration of life service for Floyd E. Thompson, 76 of Thornville will be held at 12 p.m. noon on Sunday September 27, 2020 at the Apostolic Temple, 2285 Rock Haven Road, Newark with Pastor Mark Ledbetter officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Thompson passed away Friday evening August 14, 2020 at his residence. He was born March 30, 1944 in Allegany County, MD to Tennyson F. and Flossie (Harris) Thompson.
He was a 1963 graduate of Sheridan High School. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era as a jet aircraft mechanic. In 2004 he retired as a plant manager from Enron in Texas with 38 years of service. After moving to the Newark area, he served as a STNA for Licking County Aging Program (LCAP) retiring in 2018 following 13 years of service.
He was a member of the Hebron Post #285 American Legion. He was also a member of Apostolic Temple where he was often a soloist. Floyd was very patriotic throughout his life. He enjoyed spending time cutting and splitting wood on his property. He looked forward to traveling, but spending time with family was his favorite pastime.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Linda L. (Wilson) Thompson, whom he married August 7, 1985; children, Kristi L. (Jim) Payne of Andrews, TX, Jamie Robinson of Hebron, Jason (Stephanie) Snedden of Newark; sister, Joyce A. (Linn) Clippinger of Glenford; brothers, Ernie Thompson of Newark, Kenneth (Mary Ann) Thompson of Chatom, AL; grandchildren, Ryan Melendez, Jacob Melendez both of Texas, Lindsey (Brad) Young of Pickerington, Melinda Sickles of Thornville, Abigail Sickles, Madison (Kole) Craig, Hailey (Beeman Boyd) Snedden, Alyssa (Joe Domon) Snedden all of Newark; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Sickles; brother, Marvin Thompson.
