Florence M. Knicely, 100, of Adamsville, died Sunday April 29, 2007 at the Muskingum County Home. Mrs. Knicely was born December 18, 1906, to William Aler and Magdalena (Herbert) Aler, in Adams Township on the family farm where she lived her entire life. Mrs. Knicely was a 1926 graduate of Salem Rural High School, was a charter member of the second Muskingum County 4-H club, Adamsville Busy Workers and was an 86 year member of the Eureka Grange #1241. In 1987 she was honored as a 50 year member of Muskingum County Women?s Extension Homemakers. She was a member of Frank M. Ransbottom Chapter 473 O.E.S and was Methodist by faith, transferring membership from the Bethesda Methodist Church to the Adamsville United Methodist Church and was active in the women?s society at the church. Mrs. Knicely had been an Avon representative in Adamsville for many years. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Ellen (David) Campbell of Zanesville; three granddaughters, Michelle (Bryan) Murphy of S. Carolina, Marcie (Jeff) Flinn of Zanesville, Melissa Bussey of Avondale; six great-grandchildren, Kayla Murphy, Shawn Murphy, Wesley Flinn, Dalton Flinn, Cody Bussey, Renee Bussey and two nieces, Wilma Jean Williams of Zanesville, Ruth Ann Dobson of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Knicely, whom she married April 26, 1941 and who died March 1, 1959, a brother Clarence H. Aler in 1987 and a sister Mary L. Thompson in 1982. Friends may call 5-7:30PM Wednesday May 2, 2007 a the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home in Adamsville, where a funeral service will be held at 11AM Thursday with Pastor Tom Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made the Adamsville U. Methodist Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
