Evelyn Jean Prince, 59, of Dresden, died Wednesday morning, January 13, 2021 at Genesis Emergency Room, Zanesville after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer.
Born May 2, 1961 in Zanesville a daughter of the late John and Catherine (McDonald) Headley. Evelyn was a member of Dresden United Methodist Church and worked in the cafeteria at Dresden Elementary. Evelyn was a homemaker, a caretaker and she was always putting others needs first. She had a gift for connecting with people and made lasting friendships with the doctors, nurses and staff at the OSU James Cancer Center. She loved her family, her grandchildren and grand-dogs, Todd and Monty. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking. She made sure anyone that came through her house was fed.
Surviving is her loving husband of 41 years, Dean Prince, whom she married on July 28, 1979; two daughters, Chelsea (Michael) Lawler and Deidre (Cody Seiler) Prince; three grandchildren, Penelope, Paislee and Parker Lawler; three sisters, Emma (Tom) Barton, Edna Deeds and Johnna (Earl) Starner; a half-sister, Delores Carder; mother-in-law, Toni Prince; sister-in-law, Pam (Scott) Moore; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Longaberger; three brothers-in-law, Greg Prince, Fred Deeds and Edward Carder and her father-in-law, Ed Prince.
Friends and family may call from 1pm to 4pm Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street, Dresden.
Funeral services will be at 10:00am Monday, January 18, 2021 at the funeral home with Dr. Dan Wells officiating.
Evelyn will be laid to rest at Dresden Cemetery.
